About RIPEC

Overview

RIPEC is an independent, nonprofit and nonpartisan public policy research and education organization dedicated to the advancement of effective, efficient and equitable government in Rhode Island.

The Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council (RIPEC) is a private, nonpartisan, nonprofit governmental research organization founded in 1932.

RIPEC's primary purpose is to promote more efficient, economical and responsible government for Rhode Island, both at the state and local levels. AND IT HAS BEEN FOR OVER 50 YEARS.

RIPEC research works for better government in two interdependent ways:

  • RIPEC monitors, analyzes and reports public issues. RIPEC publications and meetings present the facts, identify problems, explore alternatives and propose public actions to improve government.
  • RIPEC provides research assistance in support of public and private sector efforts to improve government.

With this unique blend of public information and practical research for legislative or executive action, RIPEC suggests new programs and improvements to current programs to make Rhode Island government more effective for all its citizens.
